Customised Competency Based Assessments

The competency based assessments will potentially include simulation exercises such as written and verbal simulation exercises (such as role plays, group exercises, presentations, in-basket exercises, case studies), that contain “every-day” work-related problems.

Development of the business scenarios and role play assessment tools requires identification of the appropriate assessment method, i.e. the activities that the assessor engages in as he/she assesses the candidate’s work against the required competencies for a given position. 

These activities include:

      • Observation: observing the candidate while he/she is carrying out tasks, real or simulated.
      • Evaluation of a product: evaluating something which the candidate has produced after a task has been completed.
      • Questioning: ask questions orally or in writing.

A combination of 2 or more of these assessment methods are selected based on their appropriateness in terms of the organisations expectations.
